In 2007, Network Rail commissioned Omnicom Engineering Limited, in partnership with Praxis High Integrity Systems Limited, to provide a feasibility study for the National ERTMS Programme. This feasibility study is designed to determine whether Absolute Positioning Technology is an acceptable substitute for the Balise based technology within the ERTMS architecture and this project is due for completion in April 2008.
