Following a successful upgrade to Network Rail's Track Recording Unit to high definition video, Omnicom Engineering Limited (OEL) has recently undertaken surveys on behalf of Signalling and Telecoms Programme Engineering to capture accurately positioned High Definition video imagery.
The HD imagery is combined with OEL's high accuracy positioning system within OmniSurveyor3D® (OS3D). Asset data is populated into the OS3D database and attributed with both geospatial and local positions. Custom export functionality has been developed to output the data in a format that is exchangeable with Network Rail's Intelligent Scheme Planning (ISP) software allowing the generation of 'as-is' signal scheme plans.
The process outlined above has been developed by OEL in close partnership with NR's Signalling Tools and Method Programme and is a key deliverable for increasing the efficiency of Resignalling Schemes.
In addition, all data captured in this process is subsequently imported into the National Video Server for use across the Network Rail user base.
OEL is very pleased to be able to support this initiative and to assist one of our major Clients in the achievement of greater efficiencies in re-signalling schemes.
OEL have demonstrated that our technology and services can also be used successfully in the signalling arena and we are excited at the prospect that these surveys could be undertaken for every major re-signalling project.
