Omnicom Engineering Limited has provided spatially referenced digital video-imagery, utilising global positioning and inertial navigation (INS) technologies for Network Rail since 1999. We have surveyed over 160,000km and collated a unique total of 28,000km of mainland UK rail network data.
These surveys have been conducted using adapted vehicles, travelling at line speed and equipped with an Inertial Measurement Unit, Differential Global Positioning System, positioning control system and seven or more digital video cameras.
