Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council

In 2008, Omnicom Engineering Limited continued their long-standing relationship with Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council by undertaking further digital video survey works of the council's winter gritting routes. The video survey imagery was commissioned specifically to facilitate:

  • Driver route learning programmes and training exercises
  • Risk assessment purposes

The video imagery has also played an important role in the visual assessment of claims made for property boundary damages occurring during severe winter snow conditions.

During the project, additional classified road network was also surveyed enabling the continuous use of flagship product OmniSurveyor3D® by the council's in-house team of asset collectors.

The 2008 commission follows previous successful service provision undertaken during 2006-2007 that included the council's classified road network survey (172km). Similarly, the unclassified road network survey (590km) was also surveyed, the requirement being influenced by Oldham's Street Lighting Project. The OmniSurveyor3D® video imagery and software application was used by the council's asset team to capture the geo-spatial position and description of over 27,000 street light assets.
