A new and unique Real-Time Positioning System™ (RTPS) from Omnicom Engineering Limited uses a combination of inertial sensors, Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS), accurate geospatial network track models and proprietary map matching algorithms to report in real-time the position of your vehicle.

RTPS provides continuous geographic and linear information for use by onboard vehicle systems. One benefit of RTPS is that it is able to report the position of your vehicle as it travels on individual tracks or manoeuvres through complex junctions.

If your operators need to have a visual indication of the train position or carry out additional management tasks, an optional Management Console application is available.

The Management Console allows your operator to monitor, in real-time, the actual position of the vehicle along the network, log data for data analysis and allow an operator to manually input a position if the DGPS (Differential Global Positioning Systems) position at start-up is obstructed.

RTPS can be provided complete with a configuration management system. The DCMS is a web-based system that can be used by you to manage the RTPS devices remotely via an Internet Protocol (IP), typically a GPRS connection. This system can be used to report the status of your individual RTPS devices.

The DCMS maintains a list of all devices as well as the firmware updates and map updates sent to them from the DCMS and all messages received from each unit are logged within the system.

RTPS uses a number of industry standard interfaces to output position messages, RS232/485 or UDP over Ethernet. Messages generated by RTPS can therefore be configured to provide position data for your third party systems.
